Our Story

How Did Preferred Partners Start? With a White Rhino.

John Fenwick

In Loving Memory

John Fenwick, also known as “White Rhino,” was the Founder and President of Preferred Partners. His rhino-like strength and grit first ignited the vision for a better supervisory experience. John saw a future where investment advisors are celebrated, even championed for their independence. That spark became what we now know as Preferred Partners.

Since our inception in 1998, we’ve followed John’s example. His experience serving in the U.S. Navy and as the President and Chair of the International Association for Financial Planning guided us with gravitas and care. John Fenwick embodied advocacy, integrity, family, and yes, fun. To no one’s surprise, those values are our core DNA today.

Sadly, John passed away in 2024. We miss his presence and wisdom every day, but we continue to carry on his legacy of serving independent advisors.

The Future for Financial Professionals Is Advocacy.

Approximately 110,000 advisors are expected to exit the financial services space by 2035. (McKinsey & Co.) Where does that leave many advisors? Feeling alone, unseen, and vulnerable in a rapidly changing marketplace.

At Preferred Partners, we start with a simple belief: Independent investment advisors deserve a strong, understanding supervisory team. Your advisory work and legacy matter too much to settle for anything less. Over 100 investment advisors trust us to help guide their businesses into an uncertain future.

If you’re seeking a more independent future or your current OSJ isn’t providing the right experience, we have a place for you.

Take Your Next Step With Preferred Partners.
